TRAINING INFORMATION

Mind Yer Heid Plus is a full day session aimed at a wide range of service providers and frontline staff from mainstream and voluntary sector services that impact on the health and wellbeing of Dundee’s citizens, such as housing, social work, health, mental health, leisure, communities, financial inclusion, community safety, criminal justice and many more. The morning section focuses on increasing participants understanding of mental wellbeing and health inequalities whilst the afternoon section focuses on supporting use of motivational interviewing techniques helping participants to consider how they can improve their interactions with people who are disadvantaged. The learning outcomes for this session are to:

AM
Raise awareness and develop understanding on:

  • What mental wellbeing and health inequalities mean

  • The influences on mental wellbeing and health inequalities

  • How to signpost to other support to improve mental wellbeing

PM
Introduce skills in:

  • Listening and addressing barriers to listening

  • Asking open questions

  • Providing compassionate and respectful responses

  • Moving service users forward in a positive way

  • Working with resistance

Thursday 27th August - Rm 17, Mitchell Street Centre (access by stairs)

Tuesday 6th October - Training Rm, Dudhope Castle


Please note that this course does not train participants to identify or respond to specific mental health problems or crisis situations. For this, we recommend ASIST or Scotland's Mental Health First Aid.


LUNCH
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide lunch. Please bring your own lunch or alternatively, there are shops not too far away. Limited fridge space is available at Dudhope and Mitchell Street Centre venues.

TRAVEL/PARKING
Parking is available free of charge at Mitchell Street Centre & Dudhope Castle venue car park. Additional parking is available on nearby streets/car parks. Pay and display parking only for City Chambers venue. All venues are near regular bus routes.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Some exercises during the morning session involve relatively long periods standing - please make us aware at time of booking if this will be difficult for you or if you have any other special requirements.

Access to training room at Mitchell Street Centre venue is via stairs only. please call us on 01382 435824 if this will be a problem
